| Emergency: Call 911 |
| The following are some tips and procedures that the Police Department would like our residents to be aware of. 1. 9-1-1 Calls: 9-1-1 is for EMERGENCY USE ONLY!! Please use discretion when using 9-1-1. If you should dial 9-1-1 in error please stay on the line until the dispatcher answers the call. This saves us the trip to your home to confirm that everything is in order. 2. Overnight Parking: Overnight parking is permitted in the borough if the homeowner calls the Police Department and receives permission. Please note that overnight parking is not permitted under any circumstances if snow is predicted. This is to ensure that our D.P.W. has access to all road surfaces should snow removal become necessary. Vehicles that are parked on the roadway overnight when snow removal is taking place will be removed!! 3. Public School Closings: Please DO NOT call the Police Department to inquire whether the public school is closed. Please utilize the sources provided by the Harrington Park School to determine weather related closings. 4. Phone Solicitation: It has been brought to our attention that many of our residents are receiving phone solicitations by an organization purporting to be the N.J. State P.B.A. Please note that any donations made to this organization are not channeled to the local P.B.A.s. Rather a large percentage of collected monies go to the telemarketer with the remainder being distributed to the N.J. State P.B.A. Vacations The Police Department requests that all residents notify this agency when leaving for extended vacations. We will check your home daily and pick up newspapers and any packages that are left at the door step. If you choose not to notify us PLEASE let a neighbor know your destination as well as a contact number. If you have an alarm system please leave the code with a friend or family member. Nothing is more disruptive to your neighbors than an alarm that is malfunctioning in the middle of the night. Motorized Scooters We have received several calls in regards to motorized scooters. They cannot be operated in the street but may be used on private property that you have permission to enter upon. Persons operating a motorized scooter upon the roadway will be issued a motor vehicle summons. |
